Summer break

A week ago, I received the sad news that my mom passed away unexpectedly. We lived in two different countries for the past 17 years (she lived in Canada and I'm in the US) and although I did not get to see her very often, she was very much close to my heart and in my prayers always. We loved each other deeply and the distance between us had never changed that.

The sadness of losing her will last for a while but I know that the Lord came to get her because He had chosen it to be her time and as His ways are not our ways, I will not try to understnd why it is so. Losing her made me reflect on my own motherhood and the little bit of time that I have with my own child. My little guy is already 7 and I want to treasure as much of our time together as possible, making family memories to cherish for years to come.

In order to spend as much quality time enjoying my family and the special activities that summer has to offer, I have decided to take the summer off from my blog and maybe longer depending how I feel come autumn.

I hope each of you has a great summer, with many fond memories to look back on. In the meantime, here's a short but beautiful poem written anonymously that I would like to leave you with today.

May there always be work
For your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two,
May the sun always shine
Warm on your windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain,
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart
With gladness to cheer you.

Enjoy your summer, your loved ones and your many sweet blessings!

{hugs}

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your mother. What a difficult thing it is for us to lose a beloved parent. My own mom has been gone for nearly 20 years, and though I miss her, I find comfort in my memories of her, doing things the special way she did them, and knowing that she knew Christ. You're right to take time with your family. Maybe we'll see you in the fall. May God be with you in these sad times.

I have enjoyed reading your blog off and on, but couldn't agree more with you that there is a time to put things down and focus on the important things! So sorry to hear of your mom, that must be a difficult loss. Its good to take time to grieve and reflect. I think blogging can be a wonderful hobby, however I can also see it as a burden at times. As long as it isn't getting in the way of real life people who need you, I think its great, but I totally agree with you that there is a time to put those family members who need you first. Moms, Dads, kids are not here forever. Treasure every minute of your summer with your family, I admire you for it! I'll check back in the Fall.

Hello, Melody,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I will be praying for you and your family.I am so thankful for that blessed hope.

I am also sad because I have just found your blog, and I so enjoy it. I know of the need to take some blogging time off, from time to time I will take a little time off, and when I do I am always refreshed.

Blogging is so wonderful, but it is also very time consuming. I completely understand that sometimes we have to take a step back and realize what is most important.... and to me that is my relationship first with God, then my relationship with my family and time with them, creating memories that will last a life time.Memories that will carry me through all times in my life good and bad!. So enjoy time spent with your family and creating those wonderful memories, and hopfully you will find the time to come back. God will show you.

I the mean time i will keep your blog on my list. Blessings,
Sue

Oh Melody, my sister Janeen told me the sad news today. Mothers are so dear to our hearts and for them to go so unexpectantly just makes our heart hurt the more. I will miss your post but pray God heals your heart. Take time with your family and don't worry as we will all be hear when you return. :)

Melody, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my mother in 1990, and I miss her still. But like you, I know that the Lord came for her and that she is with my father. Even better, I know that I will see both of them again thanks to the Lord's sacrifice for us!

Take all the time you need. Family is so important, but be sure to let us know when you are back up and running again with your blog. We'll be here for you.

Sending you warm thoughts and hearts to hold yours as you work through the grief process.

Much love...

XO,

Sheila :-)
